This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Is DCC as awesome as it seems? It's artwork is inspiring.

I handled 2 hardcopies a year or two ago, but didn't buy one because the bindings were suspect.  Cool looking game.  Someone else must have bought them though, because they were gone afterwards from my FLGS.
I need you to roll a perception check.....

Doug Kovacs deserves much more recognition than he gets.

I think it's beginning to show its age now. A cool-ish gimmick though, at the time.

At it's heart, DCC is a simple game with pretty simple rules. Most of the book is full of spell tables and I wish that Goodman had chosen to sell a thinner book with a bunch of non-bound spell sheets separate. It might have changed many people's opinion of the game.

There are several varieties of DCC out there -- the main DCC system, MCC (Mutant Crawl Classics) if you like a Gamma World style game, Under the Broken Moon for Thundarr or post apocalyptic style gaming, and the DCC Lankhmar system will be released very soon. I'm pretty sure the Transylvanian Adventures setting got released already for gothic horror, and there are probably others that escape my memory at the moment. These rules sets are all pretty much compatible with each other, if you want a "kitchen sink" style campaign.

And yes, Doug Kovacs artwork is awesome and really helps to create a vibe for the game. He's a blast as a DM as well. :D
