This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I ran a pretty long campaign leading up to the Revolutionary War, and even played a band of hired American Indians to fight for the french along the borders.

Just saw there is another edition of the game coming out, which is nice because the d12 dice never really worked for me. Anyone else have any experience with it?

Oh look, a cunning promotion for the new edition being published by Mr Zweihänder.

Hi Daniel!

I have always been interested in the setting but never bit. Now that it's using Zweihander, I'll likely pick it up.

I have all of the d12s version books and campaign stuff. It's terrific. I like Zweihander but this system is actually pretty simple and elegant. I'm sure the Zweihander edition will be good also.

The Exploited.

I've got most of the line it's class.

Nothing wrong at all with the D12 system... I would use it before I'd use Zweihander for CG at any rate.

The D12 system is an underrated gem.

I have Thousand Suns, which I think is the same system (or a predecessor of) the d12 system in Colonial Gothic. The low odds of success were a problem. Maybe they fixed that in subsequent editions?

Grognard101  what didn't you like about it.

Ive been following it since its first edition. its sorta gone through a lot of changes as the creator found the right mix of mechanics. it always attracted me because it seemed like it was very wufrup-esque. in fact I think the writer was a former hogshead guy - he worked with graeme Davis on the previous edition. and its got allot of material there. i own most of it from bundle of holding but have the core book print-out. it uses a lot of stock art which is okay and art is a bit attractor for me. hoping they invest in new artwork.

i literally hate rolling d12 dice. they never stop unless you have a farckle box or a dice tray. its mostly a tactile dislike of the dice choice but otherwise seems fine. maybe a bit too niche for most ppl.

Nerzenjäger

I like the game, but kinda hate that it's more or less the only one of its kind in that genre and dares to use a non-d20 derived system.

Does anyone actually use a d20 derived system anymore? Either using mostly d20s or the system formerly known as the D20 System (which even Pathfinder is now moving away from)

Last I heard, the current version of D&D is still pretty much a d20 derived system. :p

There are several ports of DD5e to sci-fi and modern. They don't have the logo, etc. but rely on 5e SRD.

TONS of clones, derivatives, etc. in the OSR space that add some new spit and polish to the d20 system. I recently picked up Solar Blades & Cosmic Spells and really like the roll under mechanic. Lot's of panache in this game but still basically d20.

The creator has a KS for a modern fork of the same system called Dark Streets & Darker Secrets.

I think d20 has exploded into a thousand points of d20's all over our hobby.

I got into Colonial Gothic 1E when I stumbled on it at GenCon one year. Got to talk to Richard Iorio and he told me how much he liked the d12 and how bummed he was that it gets so little use in most RPGs, and this struck a chord with me and led me to buy the whole product line on the spot. (He even threw in some d12's since I bought so much stuff, which was nice.) Anyway, I love the concept for the setting and like the notion of using d12's more but haven't run or played the game much. My players just weren't interested in the era.
