This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone bought into this much?
I recently got the 5e Core rules alternate cover slipcase set of the PHB, DMG and MM.
They also have the latest Errata, which is nice.

The alternate covers are VERY pretty.

I also got the Art and Arcana special edition.

It has a BIG book of images from the beginnings of DnD with lots of write ups written in a surprisingly non biased way.

I wasn't originally going to get it, but after watching some YoutTube video reviews, it just looked to  tempting.
The special edition also has an alternate cover and lots of A4 and A3 posters, a mock up of the original "Tomb of horrors" scenario.

I like those covers a lot.  Nice that the errata is included.  I can't justify repurchasing the whole set of books again, but a single volume would be tempting.

An updated PHB would probably be the greatest table asset.
I need you to roll a perception check.....

Yeah, it's a "Nice to have" for sure.
I actually already have 2 copies of the the 3 core books, as I bought a huge collection of minis, terrain and the core books from someone who was giving up RPGs and tabletop gaming in general some years back.
I mainly wanted the minis, but he threw in the books for free.

I don't need 3 copies of the DMG and PHB, so I'm giving away an old copy of the PHB and DMG at an open table gaming club I help run to someone who can't afford to buy the books.

The errata has been included in the print runs since at least PR4 and we are up to at least PR 11 now. Mostly in the PHB.

And yes those slipcovers do look great.

OK.  The old copies of the PHB etc I have are all from the very first print run, so there's no errata in them at all.  heh

The GM screen that comes with it is a redesigned version too. It has much more useful information on it than the one I got a few years back.

S'mon

If they redid the PHB index to make it useful that would be awesome. I'm guessing not?

I didn't get the gift set you displayed (but it looks very nice). My local store gets the special versions of everything and sells them for the same price, so I do have the special covers for Xanathar's, Volo's, and Morderkainen's.

As far as I know, it's more or less the same, although I didn't look that closely.
I know the PHB so well now, I can pretty much flip to the right pages by memory now anyway on occasions I need to check specifics.

Gorgeous! Thanks for posting that.

You're welcome thanx!
It looks even better in RL. There's a sort of muted metallic colouring to the art.
It's either a metallic ink/paint or some sort of muted foil.

The art book has a simpler art cover.  There's a Sort of stylised Mimic monster (in chest form) on the set box (or maybe the book, I can't remember).
Here's a pic of all the content of the special edition art set.

Nope.  There was new errata for PR10.

Same here. All my 5e stuff is first print according to a quick check of the print run number code in each. Probably because I pre-ordered everything but the modules and somehow still ended up with first prints of those too.

I said included. You know... added in... since at least... you know... ongoing. What part of that did you miss while you were falling over yourself trying to sound like a smart ass?

Razor 007

When I look something up, I just check the books I own.  I never even think to check the online errata.  It should have been correct after 3 or 4 print runs, imho.  Hopefully the 1st run, but definitely by the 3rd or 4th.....
