This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Any good OSR fanzines or such resources?

Howdy,

Any good fanzines for OSR? Anything like the Unspeakable Oath for Call of Cthulhu?

Off the top of my head there's . . . The Undercroft, Wormskin, Crawl!, Crawling Under a Broken Moon, Black Powder Black Magic, Crawljammer, Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad, Gongfarmer's Almanac, Vacant Ritual Assembly, Black Pudding, and the Excellent Travelling Volume.

I was going to mention Star Frontiersman, but I recalled that Wizards shut them down.  The redacted previous issues are still available, though.  I'm not a big fan of Star Frontiers, but its was a well done fanzine.

Echoes from Fomalhaut and O Povo do Buraco (English) are both new ones that I have been enjoying.

Pundits' own Presents count. They have a lot of variety in the full scope of them.

Spinachcat

There was Knockspell for Swords & Wizardy, but sadly ended after 6 issues. I liked it a lot, but I was a contributor. Same with Fight On! magazine.

Search Lulu, put in the entire title with no spaces.

Sure, the previous issues are still available, like I was saying.  They can't make new ones, though.  So, no new ones to come.

Here is where it is talked about:

JeremyR

Most of them are for DCC or LotFP and so are pretentious crap, but Black Pudding is good. Also good is John Stater's Nod, which usually had a hex crawl in them.

Nod is worth the extra coin alright.  O Povo do Buraco is pretentious?! ha

Edit: A big up-to-date list of fanzines, with many OSR, is here:

Thanks for that list as well! It's damn big! Nice. :)

I've been buying them... He's doing a great job. I've just bought the latest Dragon Egg. I had a quick read through it... Very interesting little adventure. I'll say nothing as I don't want to give away any spoilers.

I'll definitely have a look at those as well. Cheers for the suggestions!

I'm really getting into S&W at the moment as well as Whitebox. Too be honest, I'm coming into the OSR scene quite late... Even though, ironically I started on B/X when I was a kid.

Yeah, there is some dubious material about alright. What I'd love to find is the OSR equivalent of Warpstone for WFRP. That little mag was class. I used it religiously back in the day...
