This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It's gonna happen. Mark it.

I don't know that I really would care if official D&D turned into Blue Rose or whatever. It'd be annoying, but as long as there are alternatives to it in the OSR or anywhere else, it doesn't worry me.

That's really the point. Alternatives means loss of revenue for D&D. If D&D turned into Blue Rose... that's a potential gigantic loss of revenue. Sure some people would stick to the brand-name. But there are a lot of people that probably wouldn't.

I personally don't mind Blue Rose because it's a setting more than just an alternative system. That is the problem with D&D. They seem to want to make those assumptions of the SJW ideology part of the brand itself, rather than making settings that cater to their ideology (which I'm okay with, since I can choose not to buy it.)

This forum is really starting to go downhill. Why are three or four of the most active threads on the straight-up-table-top-roleplaying page focused on culture war/politics bullshit? And why is fresh kindling getting thrown on the fire every couple of days? I understand that when people feel like blathering about the news they have always been able to go rant on threads in Pundit's forum, but I thought this spot was supposed to be about games. And its always the same crap about 'SJW's' and whoever last offended you with their 'virtue signaling', or whatever terms are in vogue this week. Seriously, therpgsite is turning into an upside-down-world version of TBP. I find myself hanging out more and more at Dragonsfoot, SJGames, Frog God, Goodman, and other smaller rpg forums - they are less busy but at least people don't splutter and sneer about politics all the time.

I think someone is mad that their own sputtering and sneering about politics has been laughed at.

RPG Pub is another good option.

I agree (more politely) - I would prefer the 'RPG politics' stuff on the main forum be kept to a minimum, maybe a single thread. With so much politics stuff on this forum I have found myself wandering more recently, eg over to Dragonsfoot a lot, and even back once to ENW(!) I think there's a risk of worthy anti-SJW crusading driving out the actual real RPG talk that the crusade is supposed to be defending.

I'm not so sure about your assessment of Mearls. Only because, like you, I've *never* thought Mearls was some kind of political ideologue when I worked with him. But since then - the world has changed and people have changed with it. I've seen very close friends that have been activated by the current politics and found themselves in strange places.

I think you could be right. But ultimately that doesn't excuse the agency of choice in participating in that foolishness. So I don't care to parse the "degree" of his strength of belief. I care more about the action taken. He's clearly not working in the interests of keeping things neutral at minimum. He's actively, along with Crawford, actively injecting D&D with their ideology.

I think it's unnecessarily divisive - but ultimately the market will decide that.

It may be possible that he's radicalized. Seattle has a way of driving people insane, I guess.
