This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anybody want to give me the quick run down on what Mutant Chronicles is all about?

A lot of people compare it to WH40K and there are some similarities.

Yeah, I've always thought of it as sort of a cross between "Cyberpunk 2020" and "DOOM".  I loved the battle game "BattleZone" and always wanted to like the RPG, but I could never figure out what to do with it.

that's a good way to describe it, across between CP and Doom.

Based on the box art, at the time I thought it was a version of WH40K licensed to Milton Bradley for mainstream US distribution.  Similarly, there's a failed football spoof out there that looks like a licensed version of Blood Bowl.

Quote from: jrientsA copy of Divine Right plus the setting articles in Dragon (in issues around #40 or so) would make great material for a D&D campaign.

There were setting articles?? Coolness. When I saw the image of the map on BGG, which looks like it's by the same artist who did that early Greyhawk hexmap, I thought, gee, why didn't they set it in Greyhawk to begin with?

I guess because Greyhawk didn't exist yet in '75, except maybe as a bunch of squiggles on a paper napkin.

Just to add, I'm really warming to the idea of playing a wargame alongside an RPG campaign, such that the events of the former shape those of the latter. Fifth Frontier War/Traveller, Divine Right/D&D... it would take a lot of careful planning to prep something like that, though.

The special Divine Right issue of Dragon was mostly crunch-related, as I recall.  But the multi-issue series ("Minarian Legends" or something like that) was all creamy setting info in a shiny candy coating.

Blue Devil

Quote from: pathfinderapWasn't keeping track, didn't know they had finished filming on this,

Yep, it's done

Quote from: pathfinderapThe next Hellboy will becoming from a diffrent studio, you may like this version more, it's going to be retooled, and not a straight follow on from the last film,

I might.  I will still wait for it on cable.  I don't think I could justify paying money to see this in the theater.

I had to send an email to the person I bought the Time Lord book from and light a fire under their ass.

I paid them the day the auction ended and they are slow to get the book to me.

I want Time Lord Now dammit!

Correction. It would make awesome material for a D&D campaign.

Edited to add: Thanks for the link, Techno-dude!
