This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What are you Planning to run Next?

Caesar Slaad

The FLGS started a small-press RPG day monthly. I'm going to be running a starting one-shot of Masks: A New Generation, with the secret aspiration to start up a mini-campaign of it to run at the monthly gameday.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

I only recently started to run a AD&D (2nd edition) campaign - my first real foray as a GM, not counting some one-shots I ran back in the 90's - so I'm committed to trying to make that last.  That said, I'd love to run some sort of superhero game, if I could get my players on board with it.  That would mean using the old Mayfair Batman RPG, as it's the only superhero game I own.

What's your take on the world and how does it differ from WFRP's standard setting?

That's a good game, just started to check it out myself. Missed it back in the day as FASERIP (TSR's Marvel RPG) was my go-to.

Haven't fulled fleshed out the idea (or even finished it) but my thoughts are here:

You can have a lot of fun and a full campaign with just that one book if everyone is on board with you.

FaerieGodfather

After the New Year, I'm doing another shroompunk game using Barbarians of Lemuria. Less slavishly based on the Mario Bros source material, more different 8-bit games, deliberately more psychedelic and sleazier.

Over the holidays I'm hoping to start a game using Chaosium's Elric! rules from 1994.  Swords & Sorcery in the Young Kingdoms!
My blog, Lacking Natural Simplicity, which has  Another Take (and in Geminispace at gemini://consp.org).  And the Minimal OpenD6 SRD.

Even though I know it's a stripped down version of the DC Heroes rules, it seems pretty complete on it's own, and flexible enough to handle super stuff besides Gotham/Batman centered games.

Interesting. Are you familiar with 'Blood of Heroes'? It's the Mayfair heroes system with the IP scratched off. Probably the only system I'd use for super's outside of FASERIP.

See, for a moment I got excited thinking that you might be referring to a licensed adaptation of the Rutger Hauer movie...

(which is to say, no, hadn't heard of it before)

I loved that movie!!! I adapted the whole Jugger's sport to my cyberpunk2020 game! HAH. You should look around for a copy. If you like Mayfair's system it's pretty good for what it's supposed to do.

Thanks for the suggestion, but at the moment I can't really justify any new RPG purchases.  Perhaps next year when my finances are hopefully in a better place.  Until then any new RPG stuff I get is limited to whatever free downloads I can get from RPGnow.

It's only stripped down in the sense that the list of powers is ever- so-slightly abbreviated. Otherwise it's nearly the same aside from its emphasis on Batman/Daredevil/Green Arrow type heroics. But there is plenty of material for a four-color full-on super hero game if that's what you're after. Also, a good resource to access if you want more powers than Batman RPG describes is to visit the writeups.org web site where they've catalogued numerous super heroes from various sources and written up their powers and abilities.  Sometimes they have to make up the power to fit into the game. Personally I find the write-ups rather overpowered for my sensibilities,  but you can easily modify them to suit your needs.

Good to know.  My main inspiration, if I wind up doing this, is stuff like the original Batman & The Outsiders and the 80's run of the New Teen Titans, so it sounds like I'd be okay.

...holy freaking crap.

That site is a motherlode of stuff I can use.  I would be creating my own setting, but it's still extremely useful just to see how different character abilities get written up, and to use as a model for my own characters.  Many thanks!
