This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Whatever happened to "It has to be free speech all the time"...

What are you doing? Instead of responding you're copy/pasting someone's précis?

Quote from: ArrozConLeche;814047If I thought it was that, I would have expected Will and JHKim to be banned long ago for not having the "right" views. So that's not it.

You can have whatever policy you want, but when the site owner regularly breaks that policy, while the policy is inconsistently applied to others, it sounds less like supporting free speech and more like "Do as we say, not as we do."

You can run it however you like, but don't act like it isn't hella inconsistent, and don't expect people to take the free speech rants too seriously.

I am not here to fight a free speech war with you. I am just telling you what the point of the forum is and what topics don't get closed as much. If you want to go into an off-topic discussion, the standard has always been it stays open only so long as it interests Pundit or we believe it is of interest to him (he has reversed thread closures in the past when we've been wrong). This place is about as free speech as it gets for RPG forums. If that isn't enough for you, fine. I'm not going to spend any more time trying to explain it.

I think that is the old online Postmodernism essay generator.

ArrozConLeche

You don't need to explain it because I already got it. I'm just pointing out something about that. If it falls on deaf ears, whatever.

Thank you for letting me know.
It rather firmly tells me not to fruitlessly engage.

I'll leave my calling card, in case you change your mind.

Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

Sorry, but I'm not interested in a discussion on semiotics. If you want to engage in the actual topic at hand, you'll get a more serious reply from me. Nothing personal.

Anyone want to try real hard, like jeff here, to be witty  is welcome to have the thread.

Nothing more to be said by me. Pearls before swine, etc.

RPGPundit

Quote from: One Horse Town;814034It would remove confusion - both mine and posters. Then again, since Pundit is now a big-boy political correspondent, he might want to clarify what is and isn't allowed in his forum.

Yesterday, threads on his forum were clearly taking people away from the main forum. There were about 3 active threads in the RPG section from 7am to 4 pm, meanwhile loads of crap in Pundies playhouse. That was my frustration and i vented it. People are free to disagree, of course.

I don't want the Pundit's Forum to turn into a large-scale "Off Topic" forum.

That said, people can start any thread that is either about me or that they honestly think will be of a subject that interests me.

At the same time, any thread I haven't posted in at all yet after about 24 hours of its existence is a thread the Mods can feel free to close, on the assumption that it didn't catch my interest.  If it turns out that I was interested after all (and just didn't get around to it), I can always re-open.

I was going to say, the easiest way to remedy this "problem" (and the quotes could be bolded) is to set permissions so that only administrators can start threads in the Pundit's forum.

Oh great yet another way for Pundit the Oppressor to take away our right to say whatever we want, whenever we want, to whomever we want no matter what. Stop victimizing me Pundit! WAAAAAAA!

I think it's pretty clear, now.

If you think Pundit might find it interesting, go nuts, but you're putting your, er, nuts on the line to find out if he notices.
This forum is great in that the moderators aren\'t jack-booted fascists.

Unfortunately, this forum is filled with total a-holes, including a bunch of rape culture enabling dillholes.

So embracing the \'no X is better than bad X,\' I\'m out of here. If you need to find me I\'m sure you can.

No, you really aren't. Unless what you're posting is one of those absolutely forbidden subjects (pornography, neo-nazi shit, filesharing links, or stalking), the only thing you're "putting on the line" is that your thread will be closed because I don't give enough fucks.  Nothing else will happen to you; it's not a sanction.
