SWEET!
I will be making use of all of this stuff. I don't see myself spending as much time over @ RPG.net or ENWorld anymore.
Great Job!
Indeed. this is coming along very nicely.
I suppose i'll need to pretty up my ToH 3 review now, since I promised it when the reviews system came online.
Anyhow, this is looking very nice now, Pooka.
I am impressed by the variety of tools now available on this site. I'm looking forward to getting to use them all!
Loads, and loads of stuff to play with. Heck its going to take a day or two just to figure out the best uses of all the new toys.

QFT. there's a lot of new stuff to deal with. I'm glad that i'm on spring break this week, It'll give me a chance to figure out a lot of the system.
I'll probably play daft and just use whatever comes in handy at the moment (and screw it up a few times...) , but it's really nice to have these choices.
True. The place is full off handy dweomers.
We knew that the new program had great functionality, but we are still amazed. By the time the rest of the world discovers the RPG Site, it will truly be the best RPG site out there!
DAMN!!! I go away for 3 days come back and whabam site has doubled in size fuction wise....ITS ALIVE !!!!! great work people!
This site, indeed, rocks.
I agree although I've noticed the tabs at the top are acting a bit wierd I keep getting a large greyed out "News" tab when I'm in some areas, like Home, Articles, etc.

I'm amazed by all the cool new stuff here ! Good job !
Chacal
Total agreement. I'm loving the new features. No matter what kind of gamer you are, there will be multiple things here to catch your eye. Good job Pooka!
Not that I'm saying anything bad about one site or another... but the sheer functionality available to users of TheRPGSite eclipses ENWorld by several factors. This is what an RPG community messageboard ought to be.
with that said ENworlds functionality is twice as good as RPG.net.
Troll happy little ones like board. Little ones make Troll blush.
No offence to the Forge guys, but one other reason I like this site better than the other big two is there are no damn theory threads. I can't count the reasons why I hate those things.

Don't say that too loud! You might attract their attention!
This site makes me indecently aroused. :)

Theory threads?
I suppose it's the mental card castles about gamist/narrativist/simulationnist and similar deconstructions of what fun and games are.

Which isn't a bad thing in and of itself. Its the tendency to overuse jargon and be pompous about it that bugs me. Its like the idea isn't to say something interesting about designing or running RPGs, but to let everyone know how smart you are. Nothing wrong with the ideas, but IMO for these purposes it should be written for normal ol' gamers to be able to use.
While we understand the dismay of those who dislike the analytical deconstruction of any kind of story, we must say that even that has its place in the Roleplaying Game industry. Even though we may dislike reading the same threads that have garnered such a negative reaction above, we remember that all new studies (such as the study of RPGs), are rife with neollogisms, and that though those who write them will eventually calm down and again become sensible in their use of language.
We also would like to note that we are using analytical film studies as a base of comparision, and that this process of sensibility only comes with the greater maturity of any given field. We think it would behoove those who critique the overly complex attempts at theory to come up with their own competing theories, for we are familiar with their attitudes, and would find a codified understanding of their gaming and storytelling style to be very interesting.
Maddman, tell me a story about how to tell stories. Though we know there is no one right way, we would be truely interested in seeing yours.

exactly what I hate about them. It's a bunch of people who make up jargon which is supposed to mean something but does nothing but cause confussion. When someone disagrees with a certain group of posters they tell you that you only disagree because you don't "understand".
Just a pile O'poop if you ask me.
Yes, I am still digging through all of this new stuff. Good job, guys!

I used to feel the exact same way until Vincent came into an RPGnet thread and explained 'Narrativism' is plain english. It's a pretty simple idea really, it's just described in a very obscure way. Main reason I prefer Levi's 'little model', it is less perjorative and more straightforward. But this is getting to be a derail. Suffice to say I agree that the jargon hinders more communication than it enables but I disagree that theorizing in general has nothing to offer. It's created some great, interesting games as well as improved my own games.

Will do. I'll write it up as an article soon as I get a chance.

I don't mind the theory threads by and of themselves, I just don't like it when they begin to supplant all other discussion and begin pervading other topics with baroque and elitist terms for simple gaming elements. If this site ever gets to that point, I hope they will consider the step of a separate sub-forum for all that business.
Anyhow, this is a fantastic site! I'm really enjoying it, and look forward to seeing it continue to expand and develop.
