This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Survey: Why the fuck are you here?

Okay, I'm going to assume that if you bother to respond to this thread you plan on staying here a while.  You've stopped by, it's interesting, it's worth posting or at least reading.

As with Pooka, I'm curious about where you came from.  Did you read about us in Mearl's or RPGPundit's blog?  Are you a Nutkinlander Refugee?  But I'm also curious as to why you want to stay.  What keeps you interested?  Why do you want to spend your time here?

Name Lips

There are several reasons I come here.

1) It's the first RPG forum I've found that isn't blocked from work. (Strangely enough, it WAS blocked for a while, but when the shift from TheRPGsite to Nutkinland happened, it got un-blocked.)

2) Lots of nice features. I think all gamers can find something here for them.

3) Loyalty to Nutkinland/Nothingland - I like the people and want to help their endeavors.

4) Somehow... amongst all the messageboards that popped up during NTL's interregnum, the RPG site stood out. It wasn't trying to take NTL's place. It was trying to be something new, something totally itself. There seemed to be something special about it. That's a good feeling for a website to have - something intangible. :)
Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways, it's still rock and roll to me.

You can talk all you want about theory, craft, or whatever. But in the end, it's still just new ways of looking at people playing make-believe and having a good time with their friends. Intellectualize or analyze all you want, but we've been playing the same game since we were 2 years old. We just have shinier books, spend more money, and use bigger words now.

Strangely, I agree with Name Lips!    (Except on #1, which doesn't apply to me.)

I agree with Namelips on 2-4.  I like the way this board is going and love the dialogue that's going on between faces both familiar and unfamiliar.

I like nuts?

The site does what I want, pretty much, in regards to a gaming forum (don't ask what else it could do, my wants are pretty nebulous.  Except about nuts, I really want some of those.).  There's enough to read to keep me entertained, and there's enough variation in viewpoints to make it worth reading, and give me new thoughts.  There's stuff to read, ideas to steal, fools to laugh at (like me, if I ever get around to posting much. Whheee! :cheerleader:) and the style of moderation is something I can appreciate.

It's fun, in short.

NTL origin, if it matters...

likely, because the "RPG" appeared in the url. that seems to do the trick at my job.

Any website with a Pooka as a moderator has got to be worth watching.
I'm lost.

It's horrifying in some ways that ENworld keeps threads from... well... forever ago. I can't begin to envision how big their database files have gotten...

It was RPGPundit's essay where I first heard about Nutkinland.

I like it so far.

It's absurd... the least they could do is move threads with no activity for over a year into a separate archive folder or something. This is why they can't let people do searches.

I came for the new place to discuss RPGs in a non-EN environment.  I stick around for the blogs.

To be honest, ever since the birth of the whole CRABS-SWINE thing, the site has become less appealing to me.  However, T-Willard and DDrader both keep blogs here, and there are some other interesting happenings, so I won't let such nonsensical debating completely ruin my enjoyment of The RPG Site.
