Main Menu
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Promoting the site

Balbinus

Hi all,

I've changed my sig at rpg.net to include a link to here, simply saying "I also post here" since I don't agree with knocking other sites to promote this one.

Anyone else got any simple ideas for helping promote this place?

Mcrow

That is the way i'm doing it.

My sig that I use here has been added to all of the forums I participate on.

My sig at RPGNet now also has a link that says "The RPG Site--Speak Your Mind".

You know, I don't know if people are on StumbleUpon or not, but it's a cool way to share sites you like with other folks.  You pick cateogories you're interested in (such as "Roleplaying Games", and when you go to a site, you give it a thumbs-up or thumbs-down depending on how you like it--you can also write reviews of it for other folks to find.  It's a way to share cool sites folks may not have otherwise found with matching interests. One of my friends here at work loves it, and says he's found all sorts of sites through it.  If folks want to pimp this site through it, I think it wouldn't hurt any.

I thought about that , but was worried the admins there might not dig that.

The newshounds post scoops for RPGnet and GameWyrd reviews all the time.

There was a bit of resentment over the shitstorm that Mzichs and Knightcrawler stirred up promoting the site, but the admins have been having a feel good powwow over at NTL and I think most of that has settled down and in the past.

All they can really do is say no, but I would doubt that.

I think I'll go with something along the lines of what Balbinus does.

Mcrow, should hopefull have a review or two your way by this coming weekend. (hopefully before)
"Dr.Who and CoC are, on the level of what the characters in it do, unbelievably freaking similar. The main difference is that in Dr. Who, Nyarlathotep is on your side, in the form of the Doctor."
-RPGPundit, discovering how BRP could be perfect for a DR Who campaign.

Take care Nothingland. You were always one of the most ridiculously good-looking sites on the internets, and the web too. I\'ll miss you.  -"Derek Zoolander MD" at a site long gone.

Cool! What games are you going to review?

I picked up a copy of the Savage Tides intro that Paizo put out to help prep groups for the new adventure path in Dragon.  That one at least I know I can manage by weeks end.  Do accessories for gaming count as reviewable offhand?

Oh, Pundit, you will be happy to hear that the Grayhawk dieties are prominantly listed, I don't know enough about the geography of Oarth to know where it is set offhand.

You know, over at Treasure Tables a while back, we had a membership drive that went fairly well--what we did was, anyone who registered on the site and posted at least 5 times in x period (for us, it was one month) had a chance to win a prize pack (one from Dark Matter Studios, a pdf prize pack from PIG, and a T-Shirt from TT itself).  It was surprising how few people came just for 5 posts and left--I'd say a good majority stayed on and really contributed.  If we could get a few publishers to agree to donating a free pdf or prize pack, I bet we could drum up some interest that way.
