This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Greetings Theatregoers - Here are the rules of Alts

Statler & Waldorf

Statler: Greetings. I'm Statler.
Waldorf: And I'm Waldorf.
Statler: And it looks that, at long last, we've returned to Nutkinland. As everyone knows - we're an alternate account. If you know who's alt we are - good for you - but don't spoil the surprise for the new members, let them figure it out.
Waldof: It's not like it's hard to figure out.
Statler: Well, I for one think it's never wise to overestimate the intelligence of some folk around here.
Waldorf: :ahem:  Alts come in two basic categories - Punchline Alts
Statler: That's us
Waldorf: And PbP alts.  As you might guess the PbP Alts stick to the Play-by-Post area. That leaves alts like us, which are an annoyance to some posters
Statler: While a never ending source of joy for others.
Waldorf: If you want to make an alt then let the Nutkins know - All alts go into their own usergroup.  True users will be able to turn them off with a switch - effectively ignoring them all.
Statler: Before making an alt understand that it is very hard work to be constantly funny with new and interesting things to say.
Waldorf: If you say so since you fail to do that all the time.
Statler shoots a sidelong glance at Waldorf: Not going to get mad. Anyway keep in mind that alts are only good in moderation.
Waldorf: You'll see us only on rare occasion these days here and on Nothingland.  Maybe once a month, once a week at most.
Statler: Unless our owner gets drunk, then watch out.
Waldorf: One more thing - lame alts get banned. The Nutkins decide what's lame. That is all.

Bagpuss

:ponder: So when Diaglo creates an account here does he get banned or become a Certified ALT?

I have been told by a begger from New Orleans that the switch to off the alts is in place and you'll find it in your thread view options page (User CP >> Edit Options >> Thread Viewing Options )

Or you can always just put each alt as it pops up on your ignore list.

Even better. For reason that logical solution eluded me. Many thanks.

No prob.  Plus it allows you to keep ones visible that you like, if any.

Yes, that is appreciated, as there are a couple past alts which did amuse me.
