This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Bullit didn't even contribute to the flamewar that ensued!  As far as I'm concerned, there was no reason for Bullit to be banned.  In fact, given his typically insightful and useful posts on ENWorld, I think that community is worse off without him.

Quote from: BOZyeah, pretty sure no one asked him to do that.  i personally would have been fine if there was never an open invitiation posted on enworld.  that can draw people we don't want here, like flies to shit.

the strength of a messageboard is not in the number of posters, but in the quality of posters.  :)

now, sure, there are some folks that we might enjoy having over here, but i would much rather invite them one at a time (like in ye olde nutkinland days, so i'm told) than open the floodgates and say "come on in, y'all!"

besides, i was told fairly specifically that we don't want to create any unnecessary drama with enworld.  that thread seems to have done exactly that, though with the involvment of a third-party forum making some folks think that we were being antagonists.
And I can't even posi-rep BOZ for that......

I just love the fact that Enworld, time and time again reminds us why people get pissed off and take shots at Enworld.  They are like an annoying child that doesn't like to share his toys.

I don't know.  I think I understand their reaction.

Drader posted a link to the website and let's face some honest facts - the copy on the front page of the website makes it pretty clear that this is trying to be what ENWorld is not.

Which in my mind is a good, if not a great thing.  My cup o' joe.

But, I can also clearly understand why a post on ENWorld that amounts to "come check this out - we have none of the crap that endlessly plagues your site" gets their goat.

Are they passive agressive marys most of the time?  Yeah.  Do I think they maybe have a right to say "yeah, I don't like the way that site advertises itself."  Sure do.

My personal .02?

It would be a lot easier to advertise yourself as "not being like ENWorld" when you don't compare yourself to ENWorld and when you don't post on ENWorld saying "look at me."
Their prison is only in their own minds, yet they are in that prison; and so afraid of being taken in that they cannot be taken out.

My sentiments exactly.

I'd rather ENWorld stay in the rear view mirror completely.

I just hit the pedal to the metal and have it dissappear from the rear view mirror...

We are coming in late, but we are still compelled to add our 2 coppers.

We (Redcap) do not wish to have slap fights with ENWorld.  We remember Nothingland and remember that the slap fights there usually brought the attention of the worst ENWorlders.  If we (the RPG Site) bring over ENWorlders, they should be the best and brightest, not the ass haberdashers.

We (Redcap) would also really appreciate it if certain people who run certain other message boards did not drag this message board into their slap fights.  :p

All the fun went out of that whole thing last week some time.  It's not even worth trolling any more.

To be fair to Whisperfoot/Bullit, the contraversy traces back to the original mission statement, for which I am solely responsible since I approved it for placement there (though it was written by Shakespeare and I thought it would be appropriate).
