Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm sorry you feel the need to defend the Pundit's stance.

I, for one, try to adhere to European Union standards in Shit Miring Per Post. No more than 25%.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

Quote from: Ladybird;664568So the fuck what? Oh, the quality posts there are mired in yellow shit, while the quality posts here are mired in greeny shit.

It's still shit.

If you want to compare the amount of rules and the moderation thereof, it's rather like comparing a bunch of mice that pooped on the floor versus a whole fucking herd of elephants using your living room as their personal bathroom, and claiming that's the same, "shit".

Quote from: The Butcher;664575I'm sorry you feel the need to defend the Pundit's stance.

I don't defend the Pundit's stance because it's the Pundit's (check threads where he shits on the first retroclones or on White Wolf fans to check instances of our disagreements), but because he's right. It's about rules, not your or my personal feelings about them. I too think that Pundit could come out with his real name and just move on with this, but I'm not him. Unlike you guys, I don't pretend to know the reasons why he's so adamant about keeping his Pundit pen name separate from his RL identity. My feelings have fuck all to do with it, as do yours.

I think the crux oc Ladybird's argument is, that while it may be a minuscule amount of shit, it's still shit. And the kind of shit that could be rather easily avoided.

Quote from: The Butcher;664575I'm sorry you feel the need to defend the Pundit's stance.

Its unfortunate, but given his mod status is granted by Pundit, it is also totally predictable. It is one way that this site is clearly inferior to other forums such as RPGnet. But as you say, given Pundit owns the site, it's the price to pay to post here.

The real shame is that except for this arbitrary, childish and (as demonstrated by GWs ban) vindictive moderation built around someone trying desperately to create some kind of cult of personality, the rest of this forum and the understanding shared by a majority of posters is pretty cool IMO.

I don't actually want to call anyone a cunt. That does not figure into my enjoyment in the least.

What I want is open discussion on RPGs. Neither TPB nor this forum is willing to provide it in full. I still think it's not that bad here but it's more due to lack of actual alternatives than any particularly high degree of perfection.

Quality of moderation isn't based on quantity rules though. What you are saying is that 100 rabbit pellets is worse than 1 giant elephant turd, because there are more of them.

This place used to do that.....

Maybe we should try to change that status.

Whether or not your words are true, the part about RPG.net is simply untrue. Their moderators are granted based on business affiliation, general brownnosing past, willingness to sacrifice lots of hours per day to pointless upkeep of someone else's pocket and special "political" occurrences. Not surprising, seeing how RPG.net pretty much went the same downhill slope SA did - from which a lot of RPG.net's posters come from nowadays.

To play devil's advocate - you can discuss them, in Other Games. I'd personally like to see a forum called "Non - Traditional RPGs/Storygames". I don't care about this subject as much as I used to, but I still can see a reason for that line in the sand, from myself as well.

Well, even at the worst of times, I will agree that though moderation practices here may be at times petty, they are way behind pettiness of RPG.net.

I agree, though I have in the past been able to have mod actions successfully reviewed by other mods on RPGnet, something that I don't think would be possible here due to the centralised authority.

I agree that RPGnet moderation is petty too. I think its just a shame to see this site falling to the same pettiness due to single person's little quirk.

I stand by my former assessment. Whether your believe your own BS or not has (to borrow an idiom) FUCK ALL with it. So once more, with feeling:

I'm sorry you feel the need to defend Pundejo, for whatever reason.

Well basically, that means to me "I don't actually have a counter-argument, but I really can't stand the Pundit's opinions so ... fuck it, I feel sorry for you because you're not going down the rabbit hole of Pundit-fuckwitery with me."

Well... OK. No. I won't. And you know that.

Are you arguing that RPGnet has better moderation than this place? Come on, you've already put up more than you ever did in any of the threads where you tried to sneak in story-based games as traditional RPGs ever, like you did with The One Ring and others, pretending they were "oh yes, completely trad games," so you might as well show the whole set of cards and claim the prize, now. Your cover is blown.

Quote from: Skywalker;664459Then again, some progress has been in the last few months on this front. Previously, there was failed attempts to actually argue the point of distinction. Now, Pundit admits that the reason he considers DW a story game isn't based on an actual reading or game experience of the RPG; just his opinions of the writers.

Really? That's news to me.

QuoteGiven the translator of TBZ is the founder of what Pundit has established as his greatest rival, Storygames, it is little surprise that he wants to see the RPG hidden away somewhere.

Other Games is the SECOND forum on the list; it also explicitly states "For discussion of all other games, including story-games, miniatures, board, card, computer, and video".  Story games is the very first one mentioned. But sure, we've "hidden it away".
