This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: JanosI don't see the point really with a forum dedicated to problems like that.  I think the layout is interesting so far, and the idea of earning various things is interesting.  That'll change when we all have and do everything, but it's keeping this place interesting right now.

I'd stick to the core philosophy and keep the uniqueness.  This place isn't for everyone, and just because a few grumble, it shouldn't be changed.

I agree with this exactly. It's a dangerous road to go down to start trying to please everyone.

As for the postwhoring... it just doesn't seem to be happening to any significant degree, as far as I can tell.

But why operate on the assumption that it will happen, instead of giving people a chance not to? Why borrow trouble is all I'm saying. Obviously Pooka, Troll, and Redcap aren't worried about it so why should we?

Sorry should have put some smiles into that post.  Yeah not really worried about postwhoring activity here.

Postwhoring only really becomes a problem when the posts are content-free *and* cluttering up otherwise useful threads.  For example, I wouldn't call a Hivemind thread a problem, 'cause it is self-contained.

Now, when certian people go from thread to thread, flirting and/or fighting, clogging up the thread with a page or more of crap, *that* is a problem.  I'm not even seeing a prospect of it yet, so I'm unworried by it, too.  :)

Troll not like threadcrappers.  Troll warn them, then Troll stomp on them, hard!

I'm good with how it is. . . I am just eager for this place to grow so I have even less reason to go to the boards that shall not be named.

Personaly I say keep it as is, I have no complaints.

BOZ

Quote from: Dr_AvalancheI think that's probably a good idea. Otherwise, I like it. It makes sense to reward participation.

it's also a good filter, to keep total noobs (i.e., people who wander in randomly, and don't know what we're about) from going too crazy before they get a feel of the place.
don't quote me on that.  :)

True, would be nice if we could some how tell them why they didn't have PM's when the first registered though.  Of course for all I know Pooka might have implemented something like that now.

Cat of Ulthar

I agree with the general consensus here... I like it the way it is, it makes for an interesting feature and it adds a game element which is exactly what gamers like.
