Not that it isn't possible that Chris neglected some major maintenance task, the results of which are the current downtime, but...

Chris DID have his computer spontaneously give up the ghost on him.  I had heard, just recently, that he had finally gotten himself a new system and an online presence again.  It's possible the lack of maintenance was due to downtime that was beyond Chris' control.

In any case... no emails, no chatroom presence, no IMs, just a three-word reply on the RPGNow private publisher's forum to give an indication when things will be running again (soon, apparently).  It's a good thing I don't make my living off the ENGS, or I would be pretty damn pissed; not so much about the downtime, but the lack of information about the downtime disseminated to the people who are currently cut off from doing business.

No, cleaning the log files out can't possible cause this much havoc. At this point I have absolutely no clue.

You can talk all you want about theory, craft, or whatever. But in the end, it's still just new ways of looking at people playing make-believe and having a good time with their friends. Intellectualize or analyze all you want, but we've been playing the same game since we were 2 years old. We just have shinier books, spend more money, and use bigger words now.
