Title: Xmas Boarddom Design Fun
Post by: Ghost Whistler on December 24, 2012, 05:51:14 AM
It's christmas, the weather is fucking terrible and so i'm minded to design a steampunk sport game, having read all about Dreadball. But what sort of game should it be? What sort of rules? I'm thinking something not a million miles from warmachine: steam constructs with engineers running around the pitch keeping them going.

Since steampunk is usually tied to Great Britan's Victorian era, why not Cricket?

Why not spice it up with some .... Krikkit?
If/when a ball hits a steambot, it does explosive area damage ....

Along with a dodgy tummy this has been bugging me all week. (Christmas is so dull).

All I can think of:

Straight up get-ball-to-goal like bloodbowl. Unoriginal, but probably the best option since it allows for all the sort of stuff that makes bloodbowl so appealing.
No ball, instead two teams duke it out in a steam-televised gladiator arena based in abandoned ruins/city slums.
Teams are there to escort a robot to the enemy goal in order to score. A bit like a tower defence game. Not really sure about this one personally.
