This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Well I got the Rejection Letter...

...for GURPS Awesome from SJG.  Nope, I'm not really disappointed.  It was a side trek from abc that largely happened because I got stuck on a few rules issues and wistfully looked over and saw GURPS and got to thinking that GURPS could handle abc.  Then I had some silly thoughts about what else GURPS could handle that led to a comic to test some acrylic inks that I didn't want to use on my abc art without experimenting on some simpler stuff.

I've plugged the hole in abc now (changing rails for a couple of weeks can work wonders) so, I'm getting back on track.  I'm going to set up a website for it and The Awesomerest RPG EVER!!!  which will use the same base mechanics.  And I'll be doing a weekly Awesome Atomosaurs web comic.

I felt uncertain about this approach because I started the setting as a throwaway on SJG's website and I don't want it to become an elaborate SPAM scam.  So I wanted to wait until they refused it before even moving ahead with the comic.  But now that they don't want it, I'm good to go.  :D

I think so, maybe.

I'm better at writing fluff than rules, and SJG would open up a pretty large pre-existing fan base, not to mention all the support structures like e23 and free editing.

But on the other hand, GURPS also narrows the potential customer base and SJG doesn't really do a whole lot to promote their products.  Also they probably wouldn't have let me illustrate it, and I fancy myself to be something of an artist.

Now everyone will have to suffer with my illustrations!

You pitched THAT to sjgames???

Oh, man.

No doubt Kromm is a very nice and competent person, but I'm sure he didn't know what hit him when he beheld the biker atomosaurs and the rest. It's neither as straight-serious as GURPS nor a silly parody like Munchkin. It's just not on their mental map.

Of course, there always the OGL option... :D

I don't think it got as far as Doctor Kromm.  It was a one line, "doesn't suit our needs at this time" rejection and like I say, I don't mind.  GURPS is a fine game and SJG is a good company, but both may be a little tight for this sort of a romp.

Take a look at the second edition playtest draft of "among the beautiful creatures" to get an idea where I'll probably head mechanically.
