This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That's the most fun part anyway.

I really enjoyed running and playing in a Deathwatch campaign but "balance" wasn't an issue there as all the players were marines.  I don't need to play marines though to have fun but I think I'd personally need a bit more wiggle room than a starting xp Dark Heresy campaign would allow for (for example, I'd love to play an ogryn!).  YMMV but I think an Only War/Rogue Trader midway power/xp point would be the ideal level for me.

Well D&D and 40K share a few things.
One of the weakest opponents in the game is a Goblin and one of the strongest is a Balor/Balrog/Bloodthirster demon.

There's a lot you can fit between those.

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

This is the power level that worked best for me though I only ran Rogue Trader for about half a dozen sessions.  Characters are capable enough that they don't routinely fail checks at skills they are trained in but not so capable that they need a boatload of little rules to reflect it like the space marines in Deathwatch.

Definitely true (though in theory for me since I exclusively played/ran DW and only read through the other books/power levels).   For me, the increased width and breadth of options was the biggest draw in that middle power level with anything from SOB in power armor, ogryns, and Tau in stealth suits being potential options.
