This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I think where it fills the urge of a normal RPG adventurer (if you mean motives and goals of the PCs, what hooks them, that sort of thing) is it is designed to work with a number of types of player characters. While greed and the desire to find treasure is a possibility here as a hook, I ran it for two very different groups while I was writing it: one was more traditional and heroic, while the other was basically evil. So I tried to create hooks that would appeal to both. So I think where it may differ is it allows for evil motivations and developments. You can come to the inn and try to right wrongs or help victims of injustice, but you could also ally with local bandits and work together to plunder a great treasure. Basically there is the promise of underground exploration and unearthing treasure for your more typical band of adventurers but there are all kinds of things going on in and around the inn for players who want to explore other kinds of challenges.

I set the thing up so players can come to the inn for a wide range of reasons and once they are there, a number of possible things could present themselves depending on who the interact with and what they are interested in. If you've ever seen the Dragon Gate Movies, a big part of what makes them entertaining is the interaction between these different characters and groups in the tavern. I tried to re-create that kind of feel at the site, but did so with an eye toward getting several sessions of play out of it. Many of these are seeds.

Let me know if that answers the question though (my brain is fried today and I may have misunderstood).
