This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

This is a mix between combat system as in RPG in general and what this could be as a boardgame. As is, you could play it with dice only, but you will probably use the cards as a visual help.

Think of it as a narrative tool as in how combat systems or rules are narrative tools. It needs a story to shine, but you could play it simply as a compedative game.

The gameplay is simple, but that said, there are some unusual rules.

And the question is: Do you grasp the concept from the rules.
And ... : What would you (if not all) find useful in an own design.

The game is not a fully fleshed out RPG it is more of an combat system or framework. Think of it as a narrative tool as in how combat systems or rules are narrative tools. It needs a story to shine, but you could easily play it simply as a compedative (board)game.

From what I see, this could work for a number of RPG settings.  The framework is good enough to do swift combat (something that many games cannot achieve).  I like your partial setting of street punks and back street fighting.  Ever think of expanding that into a world setting?  Maybe something akin to Gangs of New York?

Hybrid games are a hard sell, but not impossible.  218 has Notorious out with a hybrid board/sand box style, and it works well.  I would focus more on what you love to play more (board or RPG); or you could use the system to flesh both out, and offer the system as at set board to do combative play plus the RPG selling separately to expand the market.

Yes, some rules are unusual, but that is what makes it interesting.  We need more (and better) variety of games than just d20 (as long as there is a reason other than "hey look at my new system")

Did look at Gangs of New York (among others, as .. Rob Roy et.c) for inspiration as the game did develop. I think that with minimum tweeks you could use it with most settings. At the moment it does lack range wapons.

Thanks by the way!

My hart is with the RPG:s (as an old Grognard/Ent) but I develop boatdgames at the moment. Still, this is in my opinion an simple basic ruleset for combat. You really do not need the cards to play, but it makes it esier for other players to keep track of what you do.

New systems is fun to invent, if they are used, they become old systems.
