Title: Species/Racial Score Mechanic?
Post by: Socratic-DM on December 10, 2023, 01:50:03 PM
I've been dabbling with this concept in my head that such like for the core ability scores, when you picked a race you have to roll a racial score.

since every other bonus you get is determined at character generation, it seems not far fetched that would apply to any racial benefits you got as well. This might make more sense in a mixed-race setup like a half-elf or half-orc, rolling to determine how many orc or elf benefits you actually got.

I guess would it be a good idea to make it a 3d6 score you rolled for? and ideas for how the benefits are arrayed.

Are you saying that a character might have a +2 to "Elf" so he'll get +2 when doing elfish things? I sort of do this (Elves have a Luck stat, Dwarves have a Grudge stat, etc) but I handle things differently as my players pick their race before rolling.
