Title: So You Want to Be A Game Master? Or the Best DM'ing Guide I've Read

Breaking the process down into smaller more manageable sections makes the huge task seems much more manageable and incredibly fun. It inspired me to pick back up a campaign that I started months ago and never finished. Thought you guys might enjoy it.

Google the thread title, same thread at rpg.net with working link. I skimmed seemed decent enough I suppose. Thanks for pointing it out though, for some reason I have always liked reading DMing tips.

From a cursory perusal, it looks fairly trad to me. A bit railroady, perhaps, despite its protestations to the contrary. Definitely not storygamey.

The mere fact someone (mis?)uses the word "story" does not mean that they are actually talking about storygaming.

Agree.  Even Pundit has said that 'story happens'.

You could replace 'story' with 'fun' with only a light editing pass.

Big game of thrones fan here :)

But on topic, I like reading gm advice articles even if some parts don't fit me.
Always good to get a second opinion on things you assume.

I've really got translate my advice to create a gaming group, choose a game, and run games for beginners one of these days. It's in French at the moment, unfortunately.

ARGH, so many cool things to create, shape up and design! :)
