This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Neat stuff silver lion.

Im am too, starting to think about creatures that I will be creating for my game, pandora.

Do we have links to heraldic beastiaries, or does anyone know where I could find a good one online? I want to try to focus on the core orginal concepts of mans creations with myths and creatures.

Also, what's off touch, as regards to creatures, specifically WoTC Gygaxian creatures? Thanks

Your best bet is to get a book on Heraldry (a good one should detais which are mythic, and which are constructions of two family lines merging)

Also check Medieval Bestiaries, several are available online (even some from Project Gutenberg IIRC)

For Everyone else, I'm still working on this, along with other projects (ADD of designing meh)

Age of Fable

The system that Mazes and Minotaurs uses for creatures is very simple and seems very good. (http://mazesandminotaurs.free.fr - it's in the Maze Master's Guide; ignore the unfortunate cover :raise: )
free resources:
Teleleli The people, places, gods and monsters of the great city of Teleleli and the islands around.
Age of Fable \'Online gamebook\', in the style of Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf and Fabled Lands.
Tables for Fables Random charts for any fantasy RPG rules.
Fantasy Adventure Ideas Generator
Cyberpunk/fantasy/pulp/space opera/superhero/western Plot Generator.
Cute Board Heroes Paper \'miniatures\'.
Map Generator
Dungeon generator for Basic D&D or Tunnels & Trolls.

Unfortunately I'm not looking for an OGL derived set of mechanics, but something do my own thing. I'm still working on it, I've got the general ideas down, but am trying to create more conflict that is easily grasped yet also workable for adults. It may be a fruitless task.

I've seen Mazes & Minotaurs and appreciate the recommendation but isn't really fitting in with my aims, thanks though.

I've gone with a simple art plan for this, since its meant to be useful for younger gamers (and I'm trying to keep the price point way low..to make it a viable pick up game for those WHO have younger gamers to give it too..:D)

Here are a few samples (understand I'm aiming at very non-threatening "monsters")

These are all by Amanda Webb.
