¿Existe algun rolero que no se haya querido patear los huevos ante una traduccion determinada? Arco equis, por dios...
Bueno, la cuestion es que estoy desesperado por encontrar una traduccion correcta para la palabra "Rogue", obviamente en el contexto de los juegos de rol, fantasia medieval especificamente. La palabra "Picaro" me parece penetrantemente estupida, y la otra facilonga, "Ladron", es obviamente demasiado poco abarcativa... Se me han ocurrido dos o tres, pero todas pertenecientes al lunfardo rioplatense, lo cual no me parece del todo adecuado.
Se que aca habemos por lo menos cuatro hispanoparlantes, asi que, ¿una manito, por favor?

It sounds kind of cheesy to Latinamerican spanish-speaking ears. Bribon does too; I think both of those words are more common in Spain itself than in Latinamerica.

That well may be so. Here pícaro sounds actually quite cheesy, indeed. Bribón is more accepted-

Unfortunately, I think the Pundit is right. If I hear sometime that a female character is a pícara, I'd picture her doing kinky things on bed. And when I hear bribón, I can't help recalling the Ruiz Mateos incident. :D

Por desgracia, creo que el Pundit tiene razón. Si alguna vez oigo que un personaje femenino es una pícara, me la imaginaría haciendo cosas guarras en la cama. Y cuando oigo la palabra bribón, no puedo evitar recordar lo de Ruiz Mateos. :D

...pícaro a guarro...
...bribón a ladrón o corrupto en general, aunque también podría andar...
(a propósito, Ramón y Claudius, ¿han leído la "Barbarian"? Bram y la Comadreja son totalmente rogues, así que por ahí funciona)
Renegado está bastante buena, pero se centra en la cuestión "fuera de la ley" de "rogue" y no en la parte más adjetiva de "roguish", que está buena.
Inadaptados de siempre. :rolleyes:  Estoy tratando de definir un rogue, no un rolero yoruba. :p
¿"Buscavidas" está muy mal? ¿Que tal "Sieteoficios"?

I wonder who was the sorry ass translator that came up with that translation.
I bet he was just as puzzled as we are trying to find a proper transtlation to rogue, and so he decided to "re-name" her.

Well, back to the topic.  My Spanish is 20+ years old, rusty and underused, but...well...I'm thinking that if "rogue" is used to mean...what, in FRPG terms? A loner? No. Not a thief, but a jack-of-all-trades, maybe. Someone who survives more by wit, stealth and adaptability than by might or faith or magic.

Maybe the FRPG rogue needs to have its name changed, too.

Pulido ('slick')?  Oportunista ('opportunist')?  Gato ('cat')?

Ah, my mistake. It was a certain comic book translation that renamed her as "Pícara." But yeah, "Titania" was also awful.
