This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Onix;918912The problem I have with the first two is the same words usually apply to both. Still that doesn't mean you couldn't just decide one is the first and the second is the other and in use it would become evident. It just locks up my brain.

Sometimes one roll is better than two (or three).

Maybe an Overcome roll?

Quote from: Opaopajr;918885I truly insist Sensibility and Excelsior are rather winning.

For Dying Earth yes!

Quote from: Onix;918889The ability to overcome a human/monster opponent = Better at stuff
The ability to overcome an obstacle = Better at other stuff
The ability to overcome a dilemma using common sense or logic = Better at smart stuff

That isn't that far off. In Dr. Who initiative is handled: Talkers act first, followed by Movers and then Doers. Into the Odd has three stats, STR, DEX, WIL.

The ability to overcome a human/monster opponent = Tuffage
The ability to overcome an obstacle = Buffage
The ability to overcome a dilemma using common sense or logic = Stuffage

What do you think about: FORCE, FINESSE, FOCUS

Okay, I think I've got it.

SKIN = ability to defeat a human/monster opponent.
SAND = ability to overcome an obstacle.
SALT = ability to overcome a dilemma using common sense or logic
