This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Font sizes, Columns, Page sizes, Lay-out

For an RPG primarily in print, what do you prefer in terms of font size, columns, page sizes, text alignment / justification and other matters of lay-out, and why?
I did not write this but would like to mention it:-

I did however write this Player\'s Quickstarter for the forthcoming Soul\'s Calling RPG, free to download here, and a bunch of other Soul\'s Calling stuff available via Lulu.

As for this, I can\'t comment one way or the other on the correctness of the factual assertions made, but it makes for chilling reading:-

As I get older I increasingly prefer larger font sizes that are easy on the eyes. I am fine with double column or single (three is a bit much for my taste). Really for me the chief concern is ease of reading.

Can you put a number on it?

12 point?

11 point?

Meaning as a maximum?

It has been a while since I've done layout, but from what I remember, and depending on the font, I would usually see 11 as a max. 12 point comes out really big in my experience when your printing. It looks fine on a word document, but whenever I've tried to use 12 point for a book it always feels too large. Keep in mind, I am talking about body text. For headers, I think you want to go considerably larger.
