This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Q&A-Based Character Creation

Remember in older Elder Scrolls computer games, and even older Ultima games, at the start of the game you would be asked a series of multiple choice questions. Your answers would determine what class your character was.

I'm thinking of trying something similar. I know it's a bit gimmicky, but that's intentional. Wonder if anyone feels like coming up with some questions for me to use in such a system.

Here's the guidelines:

-Questions should be from the point of view of someone in a typical vanilla fantasy D&D type world
-Each question should have three possible responses, one representing bravery/force (for fighter types), one representing cunning/cleverness (for rogue/thief types), and one representing wisdom (for mage/sage types).

Anyone want to take a crack at it? I need at least a dozen, preferably 20 or more.

See the computer game Mount & Blade for an example; they have a free demo version. No character class, but it determines skill and attribute bonuses and starting equipment - a bit like old Traveller, but with choices instead of random rolls.

Having played those Elder Scrolls games (With the exception of Arena), I can tell you they don't give an accurate result. Witchhunter when I'm trying for thief?
The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

A lot of it has some "moral" focus and some questions aren't as obvious as others about the path your choosing. Sometimes for example choosing what seems like the "mage" path is really the warrior path. It's just an interesting thing to play with--I remember Ultima, 2? 3? had a similar question and answer setup.
