This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Bill;607850Sounds like a great game session to me.

In regards to killing the nerw pc, I would have had him stabbed and bleeding out.

The only real problem I see, is your players seem to have that annoying "Me PC!! Me win! ME no back down!"

I really hate that.

As a player, I love negotiations like that; so much more interesting than "Me Kill!"

It has been established that the PCs were of good alignment.

When playing good characters I seldom negotiate with bad guys. I will offer to take them alive (and keep my word) and let the law decide thier fate but there is no way they get to negotiate for anything more. Cutting a deal to let them go is off the table no matter what.

As a more neutral/grey PC I might work out a more equitable deal purely for personal gain.

Well, I do think that this was a factor in the equation and contributed to the decline of negotiations in both instances.  However, it did not rise to an egregious level; the players are great players. :D

The problems I see here are...

That losing a fight has no consequences. ("He's dead, create a new character.")

Apparently no way to defeat a combatant without killing him. (I know of about three, there may be others.)

Apparently raising the dead is cheap and easy.

The players haven't been taught that surrender to an enemy is a viable option. ("After three days you finally wake up. Some in my tribe wanted to put you out of your misery, but I dissuaded them. I figure that has soon as you recover you can face for us with those bug bears down south, and see about negotiating a soccer rematch next month. We will win the trophy back..")
