This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

This way lies madness

Run your stuff several times at a local convention.   When I do a playtest, I often bribe with some chow.  Also, I put up lots of eye-catching posters around the con to announce my playtest so I rarely have trouble getting a full table.

Once there, I am much more interested in watching what the players do in the gameplay and how they react to pieces of the game than their post-game feedback.   What excited them?  What rule needed repeating over and over again?   How quickly did the slowest player grok the mechanics?   What part of the setting did they repeatedly refer to among themselves during play?

One playtest won't answer all you questions, but 10 gives you a solid picture.   As for the text, you need a friend with a good sense of writing and organizing.

If you absolutely can't gather the right friends, spend a few bucks.   I am quite sure that there are plenty of freelance RPG authors who will give you a detailed review for $50.   Maybe even $20.

Ghost Whistler

Wow, it sure is rainging cats and dogs..
