This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The Keep on the Borderlands [Adventures in the East Mark]

...continued from before.

The Mystic rushed into the cave after the kobolds, eventually catching up with them, while the Warrior followed more slowly and cautiously.

The Mystic beats the crap outta these buggers, but fails to notice half-a-dozen kobolds sacking out in a side chamber. But the Warrior sees them, and runs back outside to carry his buddies to safety (narrowly missing the pit trap; using a Fate Point to do so..). :)

As he goes outside, he catches a glimpse of a curious band of chittering giant rats...

Fortunately, they didn't follow him outside. Unfortunately for the Mystic, he charged the six kobolds barring him from reaching the outside, where they beat him into unconsciousness.

So the session was an epic curbstomp. All the PC's are at negative hit points, except for the Warrior....and he only has 2 hit points left (out of 11). The kobolds have captured the Mystic, and his situation is looking grim...

...and that's where the session ended.

The more I think about it, the more I find that AotEM and The Keep on the Borderlands will mix very together. The East Mark is a frontier land so putting the Keep there is quite easy (and I am kind digging the map of the East Mark).

The 2 regrets I have about AitEM is the descending AC and the lack of information about the deities who are worshipped by the clerics.

I hope the XD Publishing can do the translation of the blue box quickly. I cannot wait to have more informations (and illustrations which are gorgeous !) about the East Mark !

By the way, how D&D does the multi-attacks of the warrior/fighter and the weapon specialisation ?

I'm not thrilled about descending armor class either. But this game is simple enough (and intuitive enough) that it works. The Judge's Screen is really good, and speeds up game play.

I'm not aware of Warriors having weapon specialization, but I don't see why it couldn't be imported into the game. It would be easy to do.

As far as multiple attacks go, the Warrior in AitEM gains a second attack at 15th level, and another one every five levels thereafter.

Thanks for your answer ! It is good to know that the Narrator's (GM) screen is an useful prop and help to do combat the smooth way !

There is no rule for weapon specialization in the Red Box (but the Green Box which contains advanced rules mat change that) but I was refering to the D&D rules cyclopedia since you use it in your game (but maybe I was not explicit enough about that).

I get that warriors get additional attack but I think it is absurdly high level. The 5th level seems to be more appropriate for me, but again maybe the Green Box will bring more clarification. I was also wondering how the rules cyclopedia deals with that but it appears it also a high level thing (12th if I am correct).

You are correct.

I haven't read the Rules Cyclopedia in depth yet (it's just being used to supplement AitEM). A friend is using it to play the Mystic class, and I have much more experience with AD&D and 3.x.

That said, I think multiple attacks are a Fighter Combat Option maneuver, available at 12th level for Fighters. It's two attacks at 12th level, three attacks at 24th level, and four attacks at 36th level.
