Title: OD&D/S&W - Balance of Humans vs. Dwarfs/Elves?
Post by: Spinachcat on January 05, 2014, 04:33:38 AM
I run OD&D / S&W:WB at game days and conventions using pregen characters. The RAW concept of balance between humans and non-humans and various classes is done by XP. But not notable amounts at 4th level or even 7th level where I usually make pregens.

I am considering giving humans a +1 to all saves and +1 HP per level.

How does that feel versus the bonuses for being an Elf or Dwarf?

Might work, seems a lot though for OD&D. Running 1e I give humans +1 STR +1 CON (technically, by making them the only race to take age modifiers prior to Middle Aged), and that seems to be enough to make them attractive. Also fits with them being the largest PC race except possibly half-orcs.
