Title: [New Idea] Freedom Nut
Post by: HinterWelt on February 14, 2008, 09:22:44 PM
So, listening to too much Doors and CCR Linda and I came up with an idea for squirrels based in the early 70s. They would be searching for the Freedom Nut and rare nut that when eaten will cause you to break on through to the other side and thus escape this world and get to Nuttopia. Magic could include
Draft Dodge : Power to assign attention from you to another player
Bad Moon Rising: Cause fear of the moon, Only works at night.
Purple Haze: Causes hallucinations

Magic Items
Mystic Herb : When smoked or eaten, it will make the imbiber believe he can do anything.

Bad Guys:
The Lizard King, he can do anything and his minion, The Man.

I need to stop listening to this seventies rock.

That's awesome!

I've been listening to late 70s Space Disco and working on a new game as well! :haw:

My main project is largely inspired by Heavy Metal.

I fully support the idea of creating games influenced by genres of music. :)

Well, at least I am not listening to my extensive disco library. Yikes! I had an idea for Disco Squirrels at one point but I just don't know. When have you gone too far? Never!!!

Some day I will write serious games again....someday....;)

Thought of another one:

Come On Baby Light My Fire: Cases a spark in the pants of the target. If the target does not have pants then no effect.

Man, I have to concentrate on Neb!!!

Born on the Bayou: Character can move across some normally impassable water terrain.

Magic Carpet Ride: Character can move across any impassable terrain.

I'm thinking my new game will be called  Space: 2477, and will include the example characters "Lieutenant Ironwolf" and "Ensign Rebecca". :haw:

See, I always thought such a game should be based in 2525...and you know you need Major Tom (even though we know he is a junky)....

Did I mention I have like entirely too much Bowie as well...;)

I wrote Heavy Metal Magic, and a game (albeit just as a test in forum posts) about Disco Dancing and Magical Duels...hehe.

So rock on!

Yes!  We need a Major Tom. :D  It's a bit early... but Bowie was always ahead of his time.

Have you seen the original video from 1969:

That spacesuit needs to be added to the artwork to-do-list. :haw:

Oh yes! Bowie is all that and a bag of chips!

New Power: Riders on the Storm : Allow the user to fly short distances on a thunderclap

Power for the Disco Era: Disco Balls: Bedazzle an opponent unless they can make a Dance Manuever Check.

Yeah baby, Yeah!:haw:

For Space:2477 ('cause it's '77 all the time!?!) this is the major musical influence:

Hot Gossip and Sarah Brightman - Starship Trooper

That reminds me -- Cpt. Strange is on the character roster. :haw:

Very Groovy! :D

Maybe think about whether you'll have enough contrast on the middle of the title when it's printed.  (I mostly do screen work, so I'm not as sure about contrast for print)

Yeah, I think that'll really help make it more readable when it's sitting on a shelf. :)
