This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Rusty Scalpel Games

Hello,

My name is Tony Brown and I wanted to let everyone at the RPG site know that I have just started a company called Rusty Scalpel Games. I'm not exactly sure where I want to take RSG at this point and I'd be grateful if you visited my blog (see link below) and gave me your input. My background is a bit different than most game designers and any product I create is likely to reflect that. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope I'll see you on my blog.

Sincerely,

Tony

Hi Tony!

I noticed these passages:

QuoteIf there's some design choices you'd do differently, I want to know. My goal is to create products that match the wants and needs of other gamers with my own artistic vision.

QuoteAs for me, I think I'd like to do a role-playing game or a related product. If I did a game, I know that I'd like it to have a simple, intuitive system, yet offer deep role-playing elements with a real sense of immersion. I would also shoot for a contemporary setting and steer away from elves, wizards, and other fantasy stuff. But I don't want to run with my ideas until I've heard from the gaming community first.

If you are interested in getting feedback from gamers, you can't go wrong by fleshing out your own vision. Develop them a bit. Explain where you're coming from. Then, if gamers are interested, they'll give you feedback. One can't react to an idea that isn't there for everyone to see. See what I mean?

Good luck in your endeavors, in any case. :)

This is not rpg.net.  :)

He clearly doesn't care enough about us to edit his cut and paste.

Benoist

Yeah, well. He botched his copy/paste. Not that big of a deal, is it? :)

Insufficient Metal

I would like a game world wherein sentient condiments battle malevolent herbs and spices for food supremacy over a gritty, post-apocalyptic kitchen-scape. The mechanic should employ only d12s and be loosely modeled around Twilight 2000 (including "rads"), and though the main setting will be original, I would also like a Burger Time tie-in sourcebook in the fall of 2012.

Thanks for catering to my tastes and filling in this neglected niche in the RPG market.

I love d12. Poor die isn't used nearly as much as it should.

That's what I'm sayin'. This is our window. Our time is now.

This is a winning concept. I can feel it.

Sorry about that--I just corrected it.  I've been doing a lot of cutting and pasting, trying to elicit opinions from as many sources as possible.  I guess a screw up like this was inevitable.  Please accept my apologies.

Thanks for the input!  Perhaps I should flesh things out a bit more first.  I was just wondering whether there are some products that time and time again gamers have said they wish they had (other than a d12 game of condiments vs. herbs as someone else suggested ).

Go an\' tell me I\'m ignored.
Kick my sad ass off the board,
I don\'t care, I\'m still free.
You can\'t take the net from me.

Pfft, well if you're not going to take me seriously I see no reason to support your venture!

Personally I just find the question too open to answer properly.
