This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Thanks to a very insightful reply by Catelf I have reposted this thread with a better and hopefully more clear title.

I am creating a very simple rule-book with its own example mechanics, governments, PC, and GM guidelines, Shop list, Creation, Diplomacy, Factions, town/city development, GM2PC level system(I think it's a great experimental leveling system), Movement hierarchy, Government controls system, Plus a developer how to.
All pressed into a simple, free text document or in this case post when I get done with it. And seeing as how I'm not finished I would like to know if there is anything you think I could make a simplified version of into IE:mechanics, guidelines, tips, tricks, experience, etc. All Help Is Considered And appreciated

plus it's sample game inspired by Lord of The Rings and the hobbit.

Warning this is a very basic system I really don't want any haters saying it's not complex enough to be a rpg system.
I would like to say you may edit any elements you see useless or out of place to your game. plus it does not have to be set in lotr that is just it's poc (proof of concept) so you may change everything plus this will be an unregistered engine it shall be called lotrtea (lord of the rings empires after "which is justed based of the sample game"), And since it is unregistered you can change the name of that to.

p.s. I would appreciate credit but I don't care if you don't want to

what done: governments, PC, and GM guidelines, Shop list, Factions, Movement hierarchy, developer how to done and I am working on Creation, Diplomacy,town/city development, GM2PC level system, Government controls system.

newest: a prototype looting mechanic.

I have bad news for anyone reading this looking something that was not designed to be a dev platform it is I have scratched that idea for a more controversial one. Most of the document will be the same with a demo system and platform but no game and I want to make it more flexible to be able to connect with games or to make games so sorry if I disappoint anyone. and if you do use you will have to make your own GR's and dice roll system or whatever you are going to use.

I NEED HELP WITH THE COMBAT SYSTEM ANYONE WITH A GOOD ONE PLEASE TELL ME I WILL GIVE YOU CREDIT THANKS

The reason why my post was insightful, is because i have made the same mistake .... and i got essentially the same advice that i gave you, more or less.

Another common mistake is to ask others what they would want to see .... it sometimes works, but one often gets the basic responses of "Find a system that you like yourself", and perhaps suggestions on different games with different variants.
At worst, one may also get "do you want us to do your work for you".
I have not really encountered that last thing on this site, though ... and if i did, i don't remember it.

I would ask you a couple of things instead, since i personally often can answer questions, even when i don't seem to know how to progress ...

So, basic questions:
* What TTrpgs do you know of, and do you own any of them?
* What TTrpgs have you played?
* Why do you want to make an rpg?

Now, i'll try giving some info that might be helpful:

This is a great resource.

Now, The simplest combat system i know, is actually my own homebrew, but there is several Good systems around ....
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.
;)
