Today's blog entry has details (complete with Photos!) about my Unknown Armies campaign, which came to an end this week.

That's odd. I always had the impression that with its "rules lite" structure and emphasis on story and symbolism you'd classify UA as swine-material.
Glad to see I'm wrong.

Chalk it up to a guilty pleasure. There's just too much I like about UA's setup that makes me willing to be forgiving of its relatively forgiveable liberties with things in its system, and its nearly-unforgiveable level of pretentiousness.

Its one of those rare games that get put in the same place as "Over the Edge" and "OctaNe": Games the Pundit probably shouldn't like, but does.

Of course, I got rid of the stupid "pick your own skills" nonsense.

I think in the case of Unknown Armies it gets away with it - it isn't pretentiousness.  Unknown Armies *really is* that good.  It isn't bragging if you can back it up.

I like the pick your own skills, but its not like its an essential part of the system or anything.  Should be easy enough to put a short skill list in there.  Its the way the passions and madness meters work that bring the awesome.  I love this book but have yet to see it in action, but it looks all kinds of sweet.

Yes, it certainly helps that unlike many other games that make ridiculous arrogant claims, UA follows through on some of them.
