This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Transformers RPG

I'm a bit of a sucker for 80s cartoon properties, and nearly obsessive compulsive when it comes to generating a system to define and capture a fictional universe.

For a few years I've been running my own Transformers RPG at a local convention. The thing has grown beyond me somewhat, and is being played throughout southern and central Ontario by people I don't know.

In anticipation of a local convention I'm revamping the rules again, and decided to myself, why not put it up on therpgsite?

Comments, criticisms, what-have-you welcome, but I've been running it since 2009 and at this point it's gone farther and gotten me more praise than anything better designed and more interesting, so, goodness knows the logic of it all.

Very nice. I especially like the visual design. It felt like a Tranformers product. Would have liked some stats for existing characters, and I think you missed an opportunity with the character sheet by not utilizing the " grid" as found on the TF Info Cards, but those are minor niggles. If I ever find anyone to play it with, I'll give it a spin. Shane you can't just send it to Wizards and have them publish it. The work's already done and it could sell quite well as is witha rockin 80s embossed painted cover.

I have a *mitt* full of existing characters, with their statistics based directly on the Tech Specs that came as cut-outs on the cardboard backing or box of the toys.

Really - the character sheet already is just the Tech Spec - except lacking in its design fancy because of my own poor graphical skills, but also I needed a bit more information on it than just the Tech Spec - like Alt.Mode Statistics. I wanted the focus of fun to be on how you can do different things in different Modes, transforming.

I didn't include the nearly 300 existing 'cannon' characters in that rulebook. I thought I'd probably make up a package of them separately one of these days.

Besides, people have too much fun making up their own.

My one comment would be that it could use some example characters to showcase the rules. Although 300 in the basic book might be overkill...

Impressive.
