This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So I got clearence from the tower. Tomorrow night I start the first of, time/family/weather permitting, 6 straight slots of Living Greyhawk.

Yup - from Friday at 7:00 PM until Sunday @ 5:00 PM with time off to eat, sleep, shower, hug the wife and kids, kick the cats, and drive.

I'll let you know how it goes (like you were all holding your breath).

Anyone else going?

I'm still thinking about it.  But I've never actually done a Living Greyhawk thing, can you give me a quick rundown of how it works?  Do I bring a character?  Is it pre-gens?  Is there money involved?

Make up a character. There are limits, as LG is basically home game writ large. So there are restrictions and "homebrew" things like which classes you can use, what supplements are in use, etc. There's a whole separate campaign document. Since it's RPGA run, the folks at WOTC are involved.  You can find out what you need here. You can get the "Living Greyhawk Campaign Standards 597" document there. The biggest thing is the point buy for figuring out your stats and the rules about chargen. If you want, I'll be glad to talk you through it/answer questions, etc. I had a friend walk me through it and I was off and running without the Campaign document. I just stuck with the Player's Handbook and jumped in.

There's money - you can see the stuff specific to the LG/COWS stuff here. (COWS is a gaming group that sponsors RPGA stuff at teh CODCon)

If you want to go, let me know and I'll help you in any way you want. You'll be playing Intro mods (and I've been thinking of starting up another character - something old school, perhaps). And the folks there are very nice, so you should have no problems.

This is a bigger Con than the other one they hold around Thanksgiving at COD, called Stuffed COWS, so there'll be stuff other than just Living Greyhawk to do as well. The broader convention information is here.

Let me know...

Would just making a base fighter with the PHB, showing up and asking questions be the easist way to go for a noob like myself?  I'll look over the docs in detail tonight. Thanks!

Yup.  Or one of the other "base" classes.  I started with a Cleric. Wizard, Thief..ahem..Rogue, Fighter - any will do and be a simple start.  With 3.5, you can always decide to switch.  I know there are orders and choices that are better for the min/max crowd, for those you need to have a much better understanding of the rules than I have.

Nice thing about Rogues, Clerics and Fighters is that you don't have to make a lot of choices that may come back to bite you a few levels in.

Check the schedules for Intro mods.  OK...looks like "LG Verbobnc Intro Modules Verbobnc Intro Modules" are what you're looking for. They have them scheduled for Slot 1, 2(no judge), 3,  and 5. So show up and ask about those Intro mods.  Looks like your best best bet is Friday night (Slot 1) or Sunday morning (slot 5) as those have players pre-registered.

Malhereusement, I am registered for other adventures for Slots 1, 2, 3 and 5. Jerric The Red is on the move to experience the "Skyroad" series - as much as he can.

But if you are going to go, let me know.  I'll be happy to help you out as best I can before the slots to get your character up and running.

Love to!

Just stopping in before I hit the road again.  Had a great session last night, off to play the next two in the series today - with the same group.  Lucky for me we all get to go through the mods together so we already have a feel for how everyone plays.

The author ran it for us last night, which was cool.

And I went from 3rd to 4th level!
