I'm stalled on my new game design. I've been stalled for the better part of a year. Writer's block, laziness, what have you. Meh.

So, in an effort to make myself put up, or shut up, I'm considering blogging my game development efforts here. Not interested in doing it on RPG.net, Story Games or the Forge. I have a feeling my efforts will reach those venues anyway in some limited fashion, since:

• There's some extant cross-pollination/population drift between all the sites.
• I have a teensy presence on all the sites.
• With a published game design, I may have some rabid groupies. :rolleyes:Who knows?

Thing is, I'm not particularly interested in taking the first step unless folks are going to help to poke me with a sharp (virtual) stick. Thus this poll.

Of course, the RPGsite will get credit for their part in helping me get my game published.

For the record, I have two designs in the works. One is WAY off the beaten path, and the other's based on pretty mainstream concepts. I do realize the nature of the project will have an impact on people's interest, but I'll take that risk after seeing the poll responses.

This is quickly becoming my poll mantra.  If the game interests me I will participate.  If it doesn't I won't participate.  If I feel I have nothing to add, I will probably add nothing.

Probably not, just because too many folk are 'working on an RPG' at any given point.  You'd have to dazzle me with something new and exciting to retain my interest.

I've pondered doing something like this myself, but not for attention reasons, but more therapeutic, in a sense.

I seem to have developed this rather crippling difficulty with getting anytihng done the second I open my word processor, I just sort of freeze.

But I don't seem to have the slightest difficulty in babbling on and on at webforums and the like, so I thought perhaps if I simply "wrote by post", one bit at a time, and then just wrapped it all up into a book once I finished, it might be a way of getting around my wierd writer's block.  Plus this way the development process is fully transparent, and I could potentially recieve some useful feedback as a side effect of the process.

Tricky business though, is that I haven't been able to motivate myself to do it this way either.

Exactly. When I realized I wasn't actually accomplishing anything by posting on fora, I pretty much stopped posting. I also stopped blogging, which to me seems quite a bit like masturbation, except that everyone else is watching.

And that analogy only lets me dig a really big hole for myself if I pursue it any further, since I myself actually enjoy reading a few other peoples' blog entries.

But with a 5-2 vote against actual support, I'm not going to pursue my efforts here. I'll just have to buckle down and get things done on my own if I want anything to happen.
