Title: Jungle encounters, ruined temples - encounters?
Post by: Mystery Man on October 03, 2006, 11:35:55 AM
I'm sort of doing a Tour of Xen'drik type campaign where each location they go to provides another clue to their objective, which is eventually to find a legendary dragonshard of enormous size.

The place the PC's will be heading to next is a sunken giant temple in Xen'drik near the Fangs of Argarak called, appropriately...the Temple of the Buried Giants! The entrance is carved into the mountain face but has been collapsed for centuries. The way in is through the "courtyard" which is a large hole in the center of the complex going 3 levels down into the mountain.

I'm thinking a cult of lizardfolk types or drow now taken over the temple along with maybe hill giants. Shooting for levels 5-8. I'm looking for ideas if anyone has any, or links! Links are good.

Musty old temples and giant-ass snakes go together like apple pie and vanilla ice cream.

For a gross-out encounter, have some lizardfolk (or whatever) working on a big burbling cauldron of People Stew.

Steal any or all traps from the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Hell, do them in order.

Try Map Folio II (WotC)
I got it for an almost-identical purpose. It's pretty classy; I'm saving it for the campaign's final session
