This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: kryystThere's a new Mutant Chronicles RPG coming out?   I know there is a new Mutant Chronicles CCG out but never heard of an RPG.

It was mentioned briefly somewhere. Much complaints were had by some due to the art direction.

Thanks for the links, unfortunately not much information.  Just that it's using a D20, it's not D20, it pays some homage to the original RPG, which kinda was like D20 but different.....  So ummm yeah.

If it comes out I'll look at it then but doesn't look like anything worth marking on the radar.  Which is a shame because I rather enjoy the world.  But really if it comes down to MC or 40k, 40k wins and their product will be out in about a month.

A really great book on vampires is " The Vampire Hunters book" by Raphael Van Helsing. A lot of great artwork and some cool ideas for almost any game world. One of the artist in the book is Miles Teves, who  did all the illustrations for the Jorune RPG back in the late 80's before heading off to work in Hollywood. My favorite section of the book depicts a group of vampires sitting around a table for a "tasting" party with a few  bounded victims who are hanging from the celling with thease torturous looking collars that puncture into their juglar veins not unlike a beer tap. Gruesome yet fun reading!

Also, in regards to introducting vampires into a space setting. I think its more then posible to create a situation like that for your players without being too cheesey. Like something in the lines of " Dawn of the Dead" or " I am Legend" where a biological plague strikes the passangers on a ship or even an entire planet. Could be a lot of fun!

Although Teves made a misstep by working on Batman & Robin, he more than makes up for it by working on Indy 4....and his Pacino Vampire is pretty cool.

Well, just because he did some illustrations for Batman and Robin dosen't make him a bad artist or untalented--He didn't make the movie afterall.

Hey please take it to a thread about Jorune, if you don't mind (which would rock to talk about despite not having a copy anymore.)

Anyway the final decision I think I've come to (only a teeny bit moved by votes) is to move Zombies to the stormtrooper role and have vampires for pilots and elites. They'll be Zed Troopers (Z-Troopers), and the previously power armored behemoth, flesh eating zombies will become Ravagers.

Plus with the addition of Necrotic Science, I'll have some freaky non traditional vampire "experiments" enemies as well as the powerful but rare preternatural sorts.

My comments have noting to do with Jorune what so ever, other then  the fact that the artist who illustrated the Vampire Hunters guide worked on the game many years ago.  Also, He was not the creator. Andrew Leker designed the game.

As to why I  rolled my eyes at your David. I thought your judgement was a little misguided thinking it was a bad decision for Teves to have worked on the film. He simply did some concept art, probably months before they even began principle photography and had nothing to do with the writing, directing, or casting of the film. Like I said, it's not his fault the movie was bad.

None the less, it's  still a major accomplishment for Teves to have worked on B&R and a testament to his talent to be able continue working in an industry as competitive as the film business. Honestly, ask any freelance Illustrator if they would be willing to jump off a cliff to work on a major motion picture and they'll probably ask you "which one?".

 Jorune is Jorune because of Teves. It was one throw away comment, nothing to get excited about.

I agree his artwork made Jorune much cooler, but he did not create it. Leker designed the game first  and afterwords Teves was hired to create illustrations based on the material. That's how it usually works with designers and illustrators.

Anyway, the Vampire Hunters guide is a great and an excellent source for gaming. I ordered mine yesterday.

Actually, Leker & Teves were childhood friends. Now, if I'm not mistaken, it's been years since I wallowed in Jorune minutiae, Leker created Jorune based on Metamorphisis Alpha (for a school project ?)and Teves also contributed - mostly art - but also certain concepts to the proto Jorune. Leker gets the design credit but Teves also played a part.

Edit: And as someone mentioned to me in PM, I'm being a real dick. Sorry for the derail, Silverlion.

Did you see the movie VAMPIRE WARS (I think that's its name)? It came to DVD only recently as far as I know, it sounds like the game you're describing.
