What would be fantastic, clash, is a 'conclusions' or 'outcomes' section where you analyse what wording or changes you might make. Otherwise, tip top play reports, mate!

Hmmm - good point! Maybe I can do that in the future! My goal here was to show how a remote playtest is conducted - at least how I conduct one!

In general:

If there was a misunderstanding on a section, I re-write the section to remove ambiguity.

If there was a gap in the rules, I fill it.

If there was a wrong bit, I change it to make it right.

B.'s questions have been enormously helpful to me.

Quote from: Narf the Mouse;251783Swords on dragon-back is kinda silly. :)

The pose etc. remind me of a polo player, though a sword is shorter. Lancers?

Mind, a sword is still an effective symbol of authority and in the air could rake a dragon's underbelly something awful.

Narf the Mouse

Given the wings and everything, I'd put the ceremionial sword across the back. That also gives it a good raking position right off draw.

Ariel combat I'd guess mostly lances and guns. Maybe heavy spear-type lances that can be thrown if you get close?
The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

Clash,
I am really interested in the development of Dragons.  I am trying to venture into different RPG games, and this one intrigued me.  I want to make sure I am wording your games correctly because I have always stuck pretty much to D&D games.

In Harm's Way-Dragon is a supplement to IHW, correct? Also, to benefit from the full potential of this game, is the Star Cluster System needed as well?

Sorry if I butchered anything, I just need some clarification.
1,150 things Mr. Welch can no longer do during an RPG

390. My character\'s background must be more indepth than a montage of Queen lyrics.

629. Just because they are all into rock, metal and axes, dwarves are not all headbangers.

702. The Banana of Disarming is not a real magic item.

1059. Even if the villain is Lawful Evil, slapping a cease and desist order on him isn't going to work

Hi Venosha!

Like all the IHW games, In Harm's Way: Dragons! is a complete, self contained game. You don't need either the original IHW or StarCluster to run it. You can combine it with the original In Harm's Way, as they are fully compatible, but neither one needs the other.

The StarCluster system is a meta system, with lots of interchangable components that can be added or swapped about to customize the game - even the task resolution system can be swapped with various other TR systems. For instance Blood Games II and the In Harm's Way games are both StarCluster System games, but the former uses a d20 dice pool and the latter uses percentiles.

This chart was made up by Michael Scott to show the relative sizes of dragons in the game. I just thought it was cool.:D

Are the larger dragons that jaggy in real life?  ;)

Just kidding!  He should have started out with the large ones and scaled it down, though.

True. Note the stick figures though - the point is to get across the idea of the size of these creatures, not to make pretty pictures. Think of the Large Whale sized dragon hurtling in a dive toward you at something approaching 230 mph. I'm remaking this chart with better graphics for the game, because I think it's cool to see the differences in size between the breeds.

The chart is definitely a good idea.  Many games could use such a thing to communicate the ideas of scale that don't often come across well with Large, Huge, or Gargantuan.

This is what I am excited about as well.  I read your previous posts about the colors, skin textures, and which dragons come from what continent.  I am curious to see what the dragons will have as far as advantages and disadvantages they display for their commanding army.

Every dragon has a Special Ability. This may be Dragon Breath, but most likely it is something different. The available Special Abilities are:

  • Chameleon Skin
  • Herd Mentality
  • Dive and Swim
  • Night Vision
  • Breath
  • Hovering Flight
  • Motion Detection

Each ability aside from Breath give the dragon an Edge. Edges are bonuses the dragon can use anytime the Edge situation is valid. Night Vision, for example, gives the Dragon the Edge "Night" - a 40 point bonus to any action attempted at night. Herd Mentality gives the Edge "Teamwork" - a 40 point bonus to any action requiring coordination between dragons.

Dragon Breath comes in four types - Fire, Water Jet, Acid, and Wind. Damage ranges from +0 to +200, and times usable per day ranges from three to ten.
