This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So far the crunch has been easy enough to slide into gradually. We used the straight resolution system, a bit of sorcery and gave out Artha. Again, that's the advice I've heard about BW--don't hit the crunchier subsystems in your first session. You start to get an idea of how it all fits together if you take it easy at first.

I have only really glanced over BW.  Do you have any experience with Burning Empires?  I have been reading BE quite a bit to wrap my head around it, and I am curious how similar the games' mechanics are to each other.

In any case, your suggestions for easing into it are very sensible.  I have a BE game percolating in my head and I will definitely use that idea!

No, the extent of my familiarity with BE is flipping through it in the FLGS. From what I've read online, the basic mechanics are similar. World-creation and game structure are more codified. The whole Infection thing seems unique to BE. Beyind that I'm pretty shaky.
