This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hey Mods, quick question

I figured I'd ask because I don't want to step on any toes, but I have a question.

What are the chances of doing a designer's diary thread in this forum?  I periodically have people ask me questions about how I designed what, came up with X mechanic, went with Y art style, etc.

So for the purpose of transparency, I'd like to keep a running thread where I post these types of decisions, and people can see how I do a project from start to finish.  I think it would help give curious people some insight, as well as making me a better designer by feedback*.

*With the caveat that everyone go through the design process a bit differently, and there isn't really any one true way.
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

Drohem

I'm not a mod here, but you don't really need their permission to do this.  Dude, go for it!  I would seriously love to read it. :)

Dude that's an awesome idea. I don't see how that would be fundamentally different from an actual play diary, except that it's about your random thoughts on your game(s) design. I encourage it. Go for it.
