This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Rekindling the Fire

Alright, so I started on a project a while ago. It was going well, but then I went on hiatus (I got a job that ended up eating all my time and energy, leaving nothing left over for my own personal projects.) I was writing, editing, revising, getting shit done. Then nothing.
The momentum is lost. The magic is gone.
But now I'm getting fired from my job, and I want to start working on my project again. But I don't know if I'm up to it.

How do you get the magic back? How do you pick up something you've put down after such a long break?

I generally start by focusing on those things that led to my enthusiasm for the project in the first place. Nothing is created in abnitio, and usually I know what inspired a certain thing I've worked on. So by going directly back to the sources of inspiration, I generally can reignite the fire to "Do my own thing".

Go back to your sources of inspiration.
