This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ferals "unfinished, but playable" (Downladable "beta") Criticism?

Ok, i have made some progress on Ferals.

I have uploaded the current (more or less) version as a pdf on Mediafire.

(This link may have to get pulled down in a year or two or so, from this tread is started ...  just general info for someone browsing old links.)

Now, as said, it is unfinished, so there may be a lot to criticize on, from the barely existent GamesMaster section, despite it being mentioned in the "Table of contents", to the lack of decent rules for aquiring equipment.

The current equipment list is my main goal to try to fix next ...
But i'm looking forward to any criticism and suggestions i can get about how to improve on the current state of the game.

Sooo, anything?
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.
;)

I'm a bit short on time, can you give us a few ideas what its all about, the kind of broad mechanics used, etc?
"These children are playing with dark and dangerous powers!"
"What else are you meant to do with dark and dangerous powers?"
A concise overview of GNS theory.

Ok, broad mechanics:
Storyteller System revision, stripped down to what i consider bare essentials.

Skill checks : Roll a multi-sided die equalling the tasks diffiulty, roll equal or below appropriate Attribute + skill.

Combat: No skill checks for regular combat attacks, instead Strength/weapon strength + proper skill + any modifier is turned into a multi-sided die(sometimes several). Roll over Target's Body + any Armor to cause a wound.

Character can normally only take 2 wounds before getting ko'd.

Ki may be used to add to the damage roll, but must be used before rolling, and one may miss.

Ki also fuels any magic the character can use.

The Setting:
Alternate yesterday?
Corporations found a way to avoid rules on experimentation, and has used that to create "Ferals", which officcially used to only be either humanified animals or hybridizations, but since, also humans has become more or less willingly Feralized.

It also includes some magic and bionics, so one may also see it as a "Light version" of Shadowrun(but with Ferals instead of Metahumans as Characters).
However, the tone is also less gritty than Shadowrun.
I may not dislike D&D any longer, but I still dislike the Chaos-Lawful/Evil-Good alignment system, as well as the level system.

That's a good idea, Shadowrun is a nice setting but the presence of orcs and elves really grated on me. Genetically engineered part-animals makes a lot more sense.
