This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

American Demigods

The first session of the continuance of our American Gods campaign is up, in which the PCs:

- Hunt for a lost friend in the foothills of Mount Coatapec
- Research immortality
- Meet and engage the services of undead pseudo-prostitutes (of their own volition no less!)

The US is reeling from Coatlicue's emergence in the Nevada desert, and the rest of the world is also seemingly awash with Titanic activity.

Odin and Thor are dead (though perhaps not for long).

Loki is permanently ensconced in the White House.

Almighty God (or something like it) has sparked a holy war in the Middle East.

and more...

What heroic deeds can drag the world away from the bonfire it's hurtling into?

Read all about it in PDF or DOC format.

The characters:

Dr. Juan Guttierez - the player was absent, so he got to become a plot device. :)
 - - and his Cuauhtli (aztec eagle warriors, and 6 dot followers.

Gunther Koikkalainen - This is his Hero sheet. He hasn't fully upgraded to demigod yet, for purely OOC reasons.
 - - and Ghost and the Darkness, a.k.a. the Tsavo Maneaters, two 4-dot creatures gifted to him by a brother for his help in a little African Warlord struggle. It's unknown whether his Demigod template will upgrade them or trade them in.

Jack Thorson, previously known as Jack Miller.
 - - No birthright pals, just a hammer, a belt, and a lot of misplaced aggression.

Jim "Swampwater" Barbeaux, son of Anansi the Spider, Scion of Kalfu.
 - - And Bossu, his ally spirit, and a 7-dot fun-loving demonic tormentor (if your idea of fun involves someone else's testicles and a velvet-lined box).

Juelius "Jewls" Campbell, child of Bast. This player will likely be absent for quite some time, so has set himself up as a future plot hook. :)

The next part is up, wherein the group travels to Hel, slays Nidhogg, faces Hel's ire, and looks to be on the cusp of resurrecting 2 deities and a government agent.

I've also got the index page finally up to date again.

It's been a loooong time since we played, but the next part is up.

They save Odin and Thor, incur more of Hel's wrath by bouncing a dead  god off of her chest, and scale halfway up Mount Coatapec in search of  Itzpapalotl.

I streamlined the website a little by changing all of the capital  letters in the urls to lowercase. If you follow a link and it doesn't  make it, try changing them in your location bar. Sorry for any  inconvenience, but with the number of cell phones, PCs, and iPads at our  table making them easier to remember and type was necessary.

The next two parts are up on the index page.

6.1: Ain't No Mountain Too High, in which the Scions climb to the peak of Mount Coatapec, meet and angel who doesn't want Itzpaplotl put through the pain of being re-accepted and later rejected by the Atzlani, and fight a really damn big bird.

6.2: Ain't No Valley Too Low, in which they talk, slog, and punch their way past giant pine trees with poison javelins for needles, scion-hunting flying lizards, swarms of titanspawn bugs, and a village of very friendly rejects populated by mostly lizard folk and people with bloody stumps where their lower legs should be.

6.3: Ain't No Lake Wide Enough should be up tonight. In it they deal twice more with the angel (once with words, once with weapons), meet an old friend, and try to convince Itzpapalotl to join the fight against the Titans (specifically her sister Coatlicue).

I added Mystery, Prophecy, and Fertility to the scion page. I also  fixed all the links for the newer type-friendly lowercase urls.

6.3 has been updated (doc / pdf). The chapter was finished last week. The new stuff is after the "---" on page 6.

James McMurray

The first part of 7.1 is up (doc or pdf). They track down Ixion and amass a small army to go take him down. There's also Blood Mead, Hel's Brand acting up, and Tiger's Balls make their way back to their wrongful owner.

James McMurray

The first part of 7.1 is up (doc or pdf). New stuff is after the --- on page 3. In this  part they take their troops to Egypt, contend with suicide bombing  angels, fight a large battle, and find the Manu Passage.

James McMurray

They use the passage to chase Ixion to the British Museum, but he's nowhere to be found. The staff he was after was gone, but the snakes he left behind almost kill Jim, who is forced to call on Fate to save him. This takes him to Tiger's cave where he is grilled about the god's missing testicles, has a chat with Bird, and is eventually returned to Louisiana. Meanwhile Hel's grasp on Jack tightens.

We're doing God visitations over email, and there are two PCs that need a boost from Legend 8 to Legend 9 as they missed some sessions. The first one is done and posted here. In it Doctor Juan Gutierrez convinces two giants to sacrifice themselves, then easily dispatches three more.

Still to come:

  • Juelius "Jewls" Campbell: he's just release Shira, The Fire That Waits, lost avatar of Muspelheim from its captivity under Mount Kilimanjaro. It remains to be seen whether he and Mawenzi (a frost giant he just shot in the leg) will be able to put the thing down.
  • Jim Barbeaux: He was summoned to Haiti where he saw Gran Bois's effects on the island, and then to Ville au Camp, where he's gotten a glimpse at Cipactli and Mami Wata's effects on the Loa overworld.
  • Jack Thorson: He turned downt he gifts his father brought, not wanting to increase his personal power too much while he's still trapped under the mark of Hel.

The index page is updated, including:

- The showdown with Ixion, where they save Set's life
- The start of Jack's ascension, where he turns down Thor's gifts
- The start of Jim's ascension, where he learns the fate of Haiti and gets a hint of the fate of Ville Au Camp
- The start of Jewl's trek to godhood, where he frees an imprisoned titan avatar
- The start of Juan's trek to godhood, where he convinces a couple of giants to kill themselves and captures a few others.

As part of it, we ended up with a new knack and a new relic.

While switching editors I managed to mess up the html, which was causing the index page to show up as garbage in Google Chrome and partial garbage in Explorer. It should be fixed now (not to mention 90% smaller without all of  Microsoft Word's dead weight in it).
