This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Looking for feedback on my Science Fantasy Hack of Maze Rats

I've been working on a Science Fantasy Hack of the Maze Rats RPG by Ben Milton. Inspired largely by games like Metamorphosis Alpha and Gamma World. My aim was to keep the Maze Rats game unchanged as much as possible, to make it feel like perhaps taking place in the same world as Maze Rats but just in the future.

I was hoping for feedback on the random tables.

  • What is confusing?
  • What do you hate?
  • What do you like?

Most of the setting and general hackery is in the random tables so you can largely skip the other text. Following Maze Rats' lead meant trying to paint a clear picture with very few words (which only enhanced my appreciation for what Ben Milton has accomplished). I relied heavily on tropes but my hope is that it is still interesting and unique.

Been working on polishing this, going through repeatedly, culling the weak entries and replacing them with stronger ones. I'm feeling good about my latest draft that you can find at:

Science Fantasy Hack

Any feedback is incredibly welcomed as I am going to continue to try to polish this into something hopefully great.

Edit: Patch Notes
