Is there a John carter of Mars setting yet? We were going to start development, but thought I'd see here first.
If not, is there interest?
Love the first couple of books and film myself. I think the film is very underrated but notice its reputation has already started to grow.
Modiphius has a rpg slated for spring 2017. (http://www.modiphius.com)
Adamant has Barsoom-esque Mars campaign settings for both d20 (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/25739) and Savage Worlds (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/60955). And good support too, stretching back a few years.
If you want to do a John Carter-ish RPG, definitely check out Burroughs other scifi works. There is plenty to plunder there AND avoid the issues of competing with published RPGs.

Are you speaking of the Space 1889, or do they have something news out?

So is there a dedicated John Carter game, or just a similar style with some of the story used?

The plans for it are announced, expect it this summer or so.
There's this (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/171363/Warriors-of-the-Red-Planet), but AFAIK it's not specifically John Carter, more of a general pastiche of the Sword & Planet genre.

Got it. We are moving on. No sense writing what is written lol
Then again, if you can deal with the IP and use a radically different system, Carson Napier of Amtor (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carson_of_Venus) might not be a bad idea!

That I'll look into. I never read the Venus stories so it will be great research either way! Thanks for the idea!

I'd be glad to get thanks. So far, all I'm getting has been playtesting credits;).
Then again, I'd be glad to get a Carson Napier game without too much meta-mechanics, with or without my name in the credits:D!
How about Leigh Brackett's Eric John Stark stories of Mars? I prefer them to Burroughs but I guess they could be too obscure.
I've had my eye on the Venus stories, but I won't touch them until 2020.
...but the ERB foundation may be playing games with copyright / trademark that could affect that.
