This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

My observations on game design as they apply to "Game X"

Quote from: Silverlion;287978Well if you do the dungeon crawl/hero team thing right, I'd be glad for it! Sometimes that's all me and my players want is to throw some dice, descend into dungeons, and whack the monsters.

The game's design focus is "killing things and taking their stuff." But it has adopted MMORPG concepts, such as:

Special areas (dungeons): "instances" as they are called in WoW, where monsters (opponents) are tougher than usual and the rewards are better. "Dungeons" can be anything from temple complexes, bandit camps, classic castle ruins, to whatever the GM wants.

PC teams: again like MMORPGs, the players are encouraged to put together well-balanced teams (with armored warriors taking to the front line and absorbing the shock of combat; quick melee, ranged melee, and offensive casters peeling health off of foes; and healers keeping everyone alive).

There are other MMORPG concepts built into the game, which will become apparent as you read through the text.

Hey guys, if you can PM me an email address to send the PDF too that would be great. Remember, this is an alpha document. Of course, suggestions and input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how to convert a Word doc. into a PDF. This is holding up the release of the alpha (version 1) document. I have to reset all the type into InDesign.

There are various free pdf virtual printers out there. You should look around. I think Open Office comes with one, if I'm not mistaken. I use Adobe for everything, so I'm not sure.

No, sorry, I haven't. I will do so today.

...and sent...

I sent it through my better half's yahoo address, so your filter might intercept. The title of the mail is Game "X".

I am incorporating some changes into the text that came about through game play. Bill has the original doc. I am sending the revised edition (a few small revisions only) out to those who asked for it. I still need some email addresses though.
